Harewood are pleased to announce that they are included in the shortlist of finalists for the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2009. The winner will be announced on 23rd April at a glittering awards ceremony at The National Railway Museum in York.

The team at Harewood are thrilled to hear that they are in-line for either a Gold or Silver Award in the Larger Visitor Attraction category. Says John Swinburn, Marketing Manager at Harewood: 'We know we are up against stiff opposition and we are privileged to have been shortlisted. Our fingers are crossed for Gold; previously we have been a Silver award winner so we're looking to improve.'

Harewood is already an award winning attraction, when the Learning and Access team received a prestigious Sandford Award for Heritage Education and Trevor Nicholson, Harewood's head Gardener, was awarded the Professional Gardener of the year award for his work on the soon to be re-opened Himalayan Garden. Harewood is currently Yorkshire's large attraction of the year from the Yorkshire Tourist Board's Tourism Awards.

Harewood have worked hard to ensure their offer and service is of the highest standard for the coming year, with a continual upgrade of facilities, a comprehensive schedule of varied events and major exhibitions, which will set the benchmark on a regional, national and international basis. In a drive to increase value for visitors, Harewood has also announced that the gardens and grounds ticket has been reintroduced and will include the newly revamped Below Stairs Experience, previously included only in the Freedom Ticket, and the Yorkshire Planetarium, previously only available for a supplement. The prices have also been rolled back to 2006 levels making a day out at Harewood even better value.

The Grounds, Bird Garden and The Courtyard Cafe are now open to visitors at weekends 1030 - 1600hrs until 3rd April, when Harewood will fully open all facilities seven days a week.
